Low VOC Paints
Indoor air is 2-5 time worse than that of a major city, and according to the EPA, is considered to be one of the top 5 hazards to human health. Paints and finishes are among the leading causes. Paints and finishes release low level toxic emissions into the air for years after application. The source of these toxins is a variety of VOC's (Volatile Organic Compounds) which, until recently, were essential to the performance of the paint. New environmental regulations, and consumer demand, have led to the development of low-VOC paints and finishes. Insight Homes only uses low VOC paint in our homes. Reduced toxins benefit everyone, especially those with allergies and chemical sensitivities. In addition, these paints reduce ground water and ozone depleting contaminants. They also perform well in terms of coverage and scrub-ability. This is one of the many steps Insight takes to improve indoor air quality in our homes.
