Ceiling Fans in Great Room and All Bedrooms

Insight Homes include Progress® ceiling fans, with lighting, in living rooms, family rooms, and all bedrooms.   Use of these fans in all through the year can help lower your overall power bill.  In the summer, every degree below 78 degrees that your thermostat is set can increase cooling costs by 5-7%.  A ceiling fan creates a wind-chill effect that makes rooms feel cooler than they actually are, and they only cost about a penny an hour to operate.  You should rotate your ceiling fan clockwise in the summer time to push the air down for cooling, and counter clockwise in the winter.  Reversing the rotation of your ceiling fans in the winter will lift cool air and move warm air across the ceiling and down the walls into the living zone.
