Air and Moisture Sealing based on EEBA Guidelines

Insight Homes has in place a triple check system to insure that no leaks occur from windows and doors. We tape and wrap our windows per EEBA Guidelines. In a typical home, most builders tape the windows to the house wrap. We tape the windows to the wood. That way, if water infiltrates the wrap, the tape still sheds the water back to the outside. If that system fails, we have a “rain trough” built into the window sills. Then, if the water gets behind the tape and the wrap, again the water is carried back to the exterior side of the house wrap. So, in the case of a heavy rain storm, even horizontal rain, we eliminate the concern of water leaking into the walls, which could then cause mold, rot, and termites.
