Advance Framing Techniques
Advanced framing, also known as ladder framing or optimum value engineered framing, may seem like a new concept, but has actually been in use in California for close to 20 years.
By spacing the studs 24” on center and lining the trusses up directly with the studs, it makes the assembly stronger and more structurally sound than standard 2x4 construction, 16” on center.
Another key advantage is it allows for more insulation over the headers and in the walls where interior and exterior walls meet. In a typical home, this will increase insulated wall space by as much as 200 sq ft. The advanced framing, combined with R23 insulation in the walls, keeps temperatures more consistent throughout the home. Due to this, power bills are effectively lowered, saving you money.
